Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 12.0.0.374

An antivirus solution is by no means a waste of time and resources, as the Internet is nowadays full of infected files ready to arrest your computer and every single bit of files they discover. That's why the antivirus market has grown a lot lately, more and more applications seeing daylight with a single purpose: protect our computer from virtual threats.

Kaspersky Anti-virus however is one of the big guys, as this particular solution has always been one of the favorites to win the competition all over the world. Its detection rate is amazing, with virus definition updates delivered every day. But is it ready to face competition and remain the same strong player we've seen in the past? We'd say yes.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is extremely easy to install, at least if this isn't your first experience with an antivirus. During our test, the whole setup process took, let's say, one minute, although we think it could go even faster if you know what you have to do. Installation comes down to pressing next and, unless you're a computer guru to closely analyze every tool you're about to deploy, waiting for all steps to be completed.

Scanning takes a while though, especially if you have a lot of files, and sometimes slows down your computer when trying to clean or remove infected files. Virus definition updates however are delivered to your computer in no time and you won't even be bothered by this task.

The interface is pleasant and makes you believe you're using an application that's only focused on basic functions, although what's hidden under the hood is worth every single penny. Kaspersky Anti-Virus is capable not only to discover and remove threats on your computer, but also to protect your email client, instant messengers and web traffic, regardless of the browser.

We tested the 30-day trial version of the application, so after one month of use you'll be asked to either uninstall the program altogether or to pay nearly 50 bucks for the full version. You'll need an Internet connection for activation and that's basically all.
